222: The AI Conversation You Didn’t Know You Needed
Struggling to keep up with all the AI changes? You’re not alone.
If AI feels like it’s moving faster than you can keep up with, you’re in good company. That’s exactly why I joined forces with some of my smartest business friends for a panel we called “The Summer of AI.”
We recorded the conversation and I knew I had to bring it to the podcast for you.
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we’re all navigating this fast-moving space: what we’re testing, what’s working (and what’s not), and how we’re using AI to actually serve our customers better without losing the human touch.
We talk about how to create AI bots and tools, how to price and protect them, how to use AI for newsletters and sales pages, and even how to use it to build simple apps and streamline your life.
If AI still feels overwhelming, don’t worry. We break it down into doable, practical steps. You’ll walk away inspired and empowered.
🎧 What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
The smartest way to bundle custom GPTs into your digital offers
Creative ways to protect your AI tools in memberships and programs
Pricing strategies (and what to watch out for when selling AI bots)
How to use AI to write stronger newsletters, landing pages, and emails
Why “feeling behind” on AI is normal and how to move forward anyway

Summer of AI Panel - Jun 17 2025 (Clean Transcript)
[00:00:00] Welcome to the Creator's MBA podcast. I'm Dr. Destini Copp, and I help business owners generate consistent revenue from their digital product businesses—without being tied to their desks, constantly launching, or worrying about social media algorithms.
Today, I'm sharing a special episode: a recording of the "Summer of AI" panel I participated in with some of my business best friends. We received so much positive feedback from those who attended live that I wanted to bring it to the podcast to make sure everyone had the chance to listen.
[00:01:00] We had an honest conversation about how rapidly AI is changing the online business world. From feeling overwhelmed to experimenting with new tools, we covered it all. Our hope was to demystify AI and help more people feel empowered to explore it.
[00:02:00] Joining me on the panel were Kate Kordsmeier, Ruth Poundwhite, Steph Blake, Liz Stapleton, and Tara Reid. We each brought different perspectives on using AI in our businesses, from creating tools and custom GPTs to navigating legal and ethical considerations.
[00:03:00] We kicked off by discussing how we're integrating AI bots and tools into our offers. I shared that I bundle my custom GPTs with workshops or products rather than selling them separately. For example, in my "Fix Your Funnel" workshop, I include a GPT that helps diagnose funnel issues. And in Hobby School, we created a Halloween planner GPT that acts like a costume designer.
[00:06:00] We also talked about protecting access to AI tools, especially in memberships. Since OpenAI doesn't allow password protection or third-party embedding, some of us are experimenting with workarounds like adding a password requirement into the GPT's custom instructions, or using external tools like Pickaxe, Mazal, and Rad Genius.
[00:10:00] On pricing, we emphasized thinking long-term: if you're paying for usage (like tokens via OpenAI), make sure your pricing reflects potential long-term use. Custom GPTs via ChatGPT are often free for the end user, which can make bundling more strategic. Several of us also shared examples of pricing AI tools from $7 to several thousand dollars, depending on complexity and value.
[00:15:00] We then explored using AI to enhance content creation, including landing pages and newsletters. Tools like ChatGPT and Claude can help brainstorm angles, edit drafts, and generate ideas. I recommended using deep research features or prompting AI to critique existing pages based on uploaded data or screenshots.
[00:20:00] Another key point: using AI as a brainstorming partner. Many of us use multiple GPTs trained on different content (like our courses or brand voice) and then compare outputs. It's not about outsourcing your voice—it's about refining your message more efficiently.
[00:25:00] Ruth, Steph, and others reminded us that while AI can support us, it's still our job to discern, direct, and decide. AI is your assistant, not your replacement. We also emphasized how easy it is to start: just have a conversation with ChatGPT and ask, "What do you need from me to get started?"
[00:30:00] We covered creative use cases too. Tara shared how she built a content repurposing tool with Lovable. Steph created a "rest app" for busy moms who only have two minutes to themselves. I talked about using AI bots for onboarding in memberships. And Kate built a spiritual therapist GPT to help with mindset and emotions.
[00:35:00] Finally, we tackled the ethics of AI: copyright issues, stolen content, and image generation. Liz gave a legal overview, including how AI-generated content isn't currently copyrightable in the U.S. and why she avoids AI-generated images. We also discussed honoring others' IP and using AI responsibly.
[00:40:00] Our closing thoughts: AI is here to stay. But you don’t have to be an expert or rush into everything at once. Use it to support your goals, not overwhelm you. Start small, stay curious, and remember—you are always the one in control.
Thanks for joining us for the Summer of AI Panel. We hope it sparked ideas and gave you the confidence to experiment with AI in a way that feels right for you.
